CLT Story
At the helm of our mission is Beverley Gower-Jones OBE, our CEO and a trailblazer in cleantech acceleration, commercialisation and market development for over 30 years. She co-founded CLT in 2006 alongside Christopher Tchen and a small team of like-minded visionaries, united by a clear conviction: every organisation has a role to play in combatting climate change. Today, that founding vision continues to drive us forward – helping businesses unlock the full potential of cleantech to achieve their decarbonisation goals.

Over the years, CLT has worked with hundreds of cleantech entrepreneurs to turn pioneering ideas into commercial reality. We have supported national and regional governments in shaping policies that drive clean growth and collaborated with corporate partners to implement sustainability commitments and accelerate the adoption of clean technologies. Building on these established relationships with entrepreneurs, governments, and corporations, we have recently expanded our focus to include climate finance as an essential fourth pillar of our work.
Together, we are building a future where environmental stewardship, technological breakthroughs, and business success don’t just coexist, they drive each other forward.

The Board

Beverley founded CLT in 2006 with a vision to accelerate the commercialisation of clean technologies. As CEO, she brought over 30 years of experience in the international energy sector and established herself as a recognised thought leader in bringing sustainable technologies to market. Her expertise lies in accelerating innovation, scaling companies, forging strategic industry partnerships and identifying innovative solutions to overcome market entry barriers.
Beverley designed and delivered multi-year incubation programmes providing commercial support services to over 500 clean tech SMEs over 14 years, including the Energy Entrepreneurs Fund for BEIS. Under her leadership, the programme invested £72 million into 135 companies, which raised £500 million in private funding, launched 61 products and created 81 customer trials. The portfolio was subsequently valued at over £1 billion on Beauhurst.
Beverley established the Clean Growth Fund, a £100 million venture capital fund investing in innovative technologies across power, buildings, transport, industry and waste/water sectors. She serves as a member of the Industrial Decarbonisation 2050 action plan steering committee, facilitating engagement between government and industry stakeholders to commit to actions for decarbonising eight energy-intensive sectors.
Prior to founding CLT, Beverley founded Shell Technology Ventures and delivered Shell’s international subsurface R&D programme across 15 countries worldwide. Beverley is a Member of the Energy Institute and the Institute of Directors.

Vicki is Non Executive Director of CLT and is responsible for advising on the company’s strategy and financial performance. She is also a Director of the Governance and Sustainable Investment team at Columbia Threadneedle Global Asset Management, which she joined in 2006. She has particular expertise in climate change and impact investing.

Christopher joined CLT in November 2006 as Chairman and co-founder, advising on the company’s strategic direction and business priorities. His oversight includes corporate risk management and strategic guidance.
Christopher helped CLT develop and deliver incubation programmes funded by ERDF, UKRI and DESNZ, supporting over 350 businesses. Since May 2020, he has also served as a Management Committee Member for the Clean Growth Fund, a £100 million UK-focused venture capital fund investing in new scalable sustainable technologies, particularly at the commercial prototype stage in the pre-commercialisation phase.
Christopher has led multiple strategy projects at CEO and board level for a range of organisations. His consulting portfolio includes a strategy review for a global real estate company ($3.6 billion turnover), strategy planning for a multi-divisional data services company ($750 million turnover), strategy development for a major UK children’s charity (£250 million turnover), and operational improvement programmes for businesses in hospitality and academic publishing.
Prior to CLT, Christopher served as Partner at Eden McCallum. He was Managing Director of Strategos Europe and a Founding Partner at Strategos, a small but influential strategy consulting company focused on strategy, growth and innovation. There, he worked closely with founder Gary Hamel, one of the world’s best-known business thinkers, leading $2-3 million of work annually for clients including Reed Elsevier, Diageo, Reuters, Shell, Sonera and Nokia. Earlier in his career, he held positions as Vice-President Strategy at Gemini Consulting/MAC Group/CMI and worked as an Associate consultant at Bain and Co in London and Paris. Christopher has a degree in Chemistry from the University of Oxford.
