Beverley’s determination to establish and launch the Clean Growth Fund, coupled with her work in the UK clean tech sector over the past 15 years, has been recognised by the Business Green Annual Awards, which were held last week. Beverley won in the Leader of the Year category.

Her success in establishing the Clean Growth Fund involved making the case, over a number of years, for investment in early-stage cleantech to abate climate change. Beverley’s pressed for a clean tech VC fund across business, government, and financial institutions. Since its launch in May 2020, the Fund has reached £100m in size, and has so far made investments in twenty exciting UK technology companies – for example, EV charging, energy flexibility and low carbon heating. Beverley’s commitment to the clean tech sector goes back many years – long before it became fashionable and long before investors talked about the importance of ESG. In 2006, after a successful career at Shell, Beverley established Carbon Limiting Technologies, a consultancy firm that works with large corporations and governments to identify and commercialise the very best early-stage cleantech companies. Since then, she has worked with over 400 SMEs during the past 15 years. Beverley is a true pioneer and her recognition at this year’s Business Green Awards is hugely deserving.
